Description: This dataset contains the point elevations and thicknesses found on the abandoned underground mine maps in Ohio. This data layer was developed to be used in coal-resource calculations. In addition, this data layer is to assist with identifying and potentially mitigate mine-subsidence hazards from underground mines.

Description: Since the late 1800s, the Ohio Geological Survey has been analysing the geochemistry of coal samples throughout the state of Ohio. During that time period, over 2,000 coal samples have been analyzed for coal geochemistry. In the mid-1980s, the Division received a grant from the U.S. Geological Survey to provide samples for coal geochemistry analysis. The resulting sample analyses were then given back to the Ohio Geological Survey. This dataset is currently contains the locations and basic header data for those 660 samples.

Description: This dataset shows the locations of all the measured stratigraphic sections, core descriptions, and mine elevation points that can be used for coal resource calculations in Ohio. The data were originally compiled for the U.S. Geological Survey's National Coal Resources Database System between 1989 and 2001.
